The Anthony Broadwater Story
Challenge
How do you tell the story and manage the international media frenzy that ensues of a man who was wrongly convicted of raping a New York Times best-selling author and then is exonerated almost forty years later. Quite simply, by developing a media strategy that is sensitive to all those involved and ensure the story is treated with the respect it deserves.
The story of Anthony Broadwater is one of deep sadness, perseverance, and redemption…Broadwater, a Syracuse man who spent over 16 years in prison, and another 20 plus years being stigmatized as a registered sex offender for the 1981 rape of New York Times best-selling author Alice Sebold. Sebold is best known for her novel, The Lovely Bones which became the basis for the critically acclaimed movie The Lovely Bones staring Mark Wahlberg.
