Protecting Healthcare Coverage
Challenge
We were challenged with turbo-charging the public relations effectiveness of a well-known association of health insurance companies (New York Health Plan Association) to educate health care stakeholders about a legislative initiative that would have negatively impacted customers.
Approach
We developed and executed a statewide earned media strategy which led to a Governor’s veto of the legislation which would have changed the mid-year medicine formularies for health insurance plans across the state and thus jeopardized patient choice and healthcare costs.
Results
Over the course of the legislative session, WAV STRATEGIES delivered nearly 50 unique print, radio, television, and digital earned media hits in major news outlets across the state by working with reporters, news directors, producers, editorial boards, and publishers. Notable media hits included the New York Times, Politico, NY Daily News, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Spectrum News, Associated Press, and WAMC’s Capitol Press Room.
