SCHENECTADY — Excitement for a new hockey arena and events center at Mohawk Harbor is mounting, as dozens of public officials attended a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday for the $50 million facility that is expected to open next year.
“What a fantastic day for New York state, the city and county of Schenectady and, selfishly, for Mohawk Harbor,” said David Buicko, the chief executive officer of the Galesi Group, the development company that redeveloped the harbor and is spearheading the arena project.
