Surprising Challenge

WAV Strategies was charged with developing a strong statewide network of stakeholder and media support for one of the nation’s highest profile defense programs with the end goal of educating the public and New York’s congressional delegation to protect the program from threatened cuts at the national level.  Surprisingly, few people across the state were aware of the significant economic impact of the program.

Strategic Execution

We developed a media and grassroots strategy, fine-tuned the client’s message, and identified advocates to increase support for the program. We worked with community leaders and various stakeholders to build an active and diverse network of supporters who advocated for the program via earned media and direct advocacy. In addition, we drafted and placed numerous news stories, Op-Eds, and Letters to the Editor in statewide and regional publications throughout New York State.

Winning Results

Our media and advocacy efforts motivated several congressional targets to fully support the program which ultimately protected thousands of New York jobs and led the client to move more jobs to New York State.
